Feed your faith through Bible study.
EAT MORE BIBLES
Dear Partners in Ministry,
Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus the Christ!
This past Sunday, the people of God at Holy Cross were given special encouragement and very healthy food in the form of 85 Bibles that had been donated in memory of Rollie Smith by his family and his friends at Holy Cross and the community. I have been told that Rollie was dedicated to feasting on the Word of God, that reading and studying the Bible was important to him. He must have known the words of Isaiah 8:19: “When people tell you, "Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spiritworld, get in touch with the dead?" Tell them, "No, we're going to study the Scriptures." People who try the other ways get nowhere—a dead end!” (The Message translation).
One of the promises I made to you at my Installation Service was “to nourish you with the word.” In trying to keep that promise I have offered to give leadership to a Bible study when at least eight people with open minds, open hearts, and a hunger for God’s Word come together. As far as I know, three groups are already being formed. I hope there will be many more. “Eat more Bibles,” it’s good for you. And, who knows, it might also be fun!
Here is your assignment: Find at least seven other people (your friends, neighbors, colleagues, family, church friends, etc.) agree on a time and a place (homes, restaurants, Holy Cross, dorm rooms, parks, etc.) to meet for at least six weeks, and contact me.
Then let’s eat some solid spiritual food!
In Christ,
Pastor Hahn:
